Punishment for Film Smugglers

Following illegal release of CD and DVD versions of bestselling Iranian films during recent years in the open market, authorities have finally ratified a new law for punishment of film smugglers. According to the new law, there is no need for film producers to file lawsuits and the cash fine stipulated by the new law is tenfold that of its predecessor. It has been also announced that all sellers of video films should obtain permits from the government. Otherwise they will be fined and, in case of repetition, their property will be confiscated.
