Asghar Farhadi is among talented filmmakers who have started and continued their professional carrier during the past decade. His films appeal to both ordinary audience and critics. After Dance in the Dust (2000) and Shahr-e Ziba (2002), he worked with Mani Haqiqi in his third film, Fireworks Wednesday and they have worked together since that time. Haqiqi helped Farhadi with screenplay of Fireworks Wednesday and Farhadi helped with screenplay of Canaan (Mani Haqiqi). This film is a narrative sequel to Shahr-e Ziba and Fireworks Wednesday and is about young couples taking vacation in north Iran. Common feature of Farhadi’s films is their critical approach to social realities and he is a stylist director with regard to actors. In Fireworks Wednesday, Hedyeh Tehrani, Taraneh Alidousti, and Hamid Farrokhnejad played effective roles and Tehrani won Fajr Festival’s best actress prize. Starting his career in theatrical plays and television, Farhadi worked with his wife in early years of his career. After a few years, his wife, Parisa Bakhtavar started her own career as director. Tambourine is her first film, which was screened recently and was a bestseller.
